4:35 當那天晚上，耶穌對門徒說：「我們渡到那邊去吧。」
4:36 門徒離開眾人，耶穌仍在船上，他們就把他一同帶去；也有別的船和他同行。
4:37 忽然起了暴風，波浪打入船內，甚至船要滿了水。
4:38 耶穌在船尾上，枕著枕頭睡覺。門徒叫醒了他，說：「夫子！我們喪命，你不顧嗎？」
4:39 耶穌醒了，斥責風，向海說：「住了吧！靜了吧！」風就止住，大大地平靜了。
4:40 耶穌對他們說：「為甚麼膽怯？你們還沒有信心嗎？」
4:41 他們就大大地懼怕，彼此說：「這到底是誰，連風和海也聽從他了。」
That day when evening came, he said to his
disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”
Leaving the crowd behind, they took him
along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A
furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was
nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples
woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the
waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so
afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
They were terrified and asked each other,
“Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

這裡是湖裡的風浪，說來就來，連這一群常常在這裡打魚的人都無法預料，所以他們才會經歷到這個突來的風暴，甚至怕得要死，怕到不知所措。連耶穌睡在船尾，門徒叫醒了祂，說：「夫子！我們喪命，你不顧嗎？」
其實我們的人生何嘗不是如此，我們理當是專家，理當是有辦法面對人生的困境，但是我們常常和這些門徒一般，十分慌亂，舉足無措。還好我們可以呼求耶穌的名，正如門徒叫醒耶穌一般：「夫子！我們喪命，你不顧嗎？」
耶穌卻在這時候彰顯祂的主權，成就了大事。正如耶穌在這裡斥責風，向海說：「住了吧！靜了吧！」風就止住，大大地平靜了。耶穌一發聲，就止住風浪，恢復一切的平靜。
其實我們內心深處也有一個平靜的地方，在那裏只有我們和上帝，讓上帝撫慰與安靜我們，使我們有重新出發的力量，那就是上帝所賜下的信心，不是我們能，是上帝能！也唯有如此我們才能真正認識耶穌是誰？因為上帝將聖靈分賜在我們心中，使我們認識那道成肉身的上帝：耶穌基督。
耶穌基督不僅當時陪伴門徒，經過突來的風暴，他也要帶領我們經過人生的風暴，使我們認識耶穌基督就是主，祂是我們生命的中心！
