21:1 耶穌和門徒將近耶路撒冷，到了伯法其，在橄欖山那裡。
21:2 耶穌就打發兩個門徒，對他們說：「你們往對面村子裡去，必看見一匹驢拴在那裡，還有驢駒同在一處；你們解開，牽到我這裡來。
21:3 若有人對你們說甚麼，你們就說：『主要用牠。』那人必立時讓你們牽來。
21:4 這事成就是要應驗先知的話，說：
21:5 要對錫安的居民（原文是女子）說：看哪，你的王來到你這裡，是溫柔的，又騎著驢，就是騎著驢駒子。」
21:6 門徒就照耶穌所吩咐的去行，
21:7 牽了驢和驢駒來，把自己的衣服搭在上面，耶穌就騎上。
21:8 眾人多半把衣服鋪在路上；還有人砍下樹枝來鋪在路上。
21:9 前行後隨的眾人喊著說：和散那（原有求救的意思，在此是稱頌的話）歸於大衛的子孫！奉主名來的是應當稱頌的！高高在上和散那！
As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See,
your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
and
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”[a]
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna[b] to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[c]
“Hosanna[d] in the highest heaven!”
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

《馬太福音》的作者，常常不厭其煩地說：「這事成就是要應驗先知的話」！
之所以這樣說，是要讀者知道；主耶穌就是上帝所預備的彌賽亞，是舊約當中宣告的那一位。而主耶穌既是上帝所宣告的那一位，也唯有他能拯救以色列民，使以色列民得著真正的自由。
《馬太福音》作者所引用的是《撒迦利亞書》9章9節：「錫安的民哪，應當大大喜樂；耶路撒冷的民哪，應當歡呼。看哪，你的王來到你這裡！他是公義的，並且施行拯救，謙謙和和地騎著驢，就是騎著驢的駒子。」
而主耶穌所到之處，都受到大家的歡迎，並且為祂歡呼：「和散那（原有求救的意思，在此是稱頌的話）歸於大衛的子孫！奉主名來的是應當稱頌的！高高在上和散那！」
可見這群人對主耶穌有深深的期待，才會這樣歡呼！然而人通常沒有認識清楚實況，很容易受到別人的影響。可是，人認清楚狀態的時候，又很容易變換。正如這一群歡呼迎接主耶穌的民眾，也是呼喊將主耶穌釘十字架，變化很快的！
而民眾的變化之快速，也是教會領袖要注意的，我們不要培養一些膚淺的信徒，要透過神學的訓練，使弟兄姊妹成為有深度的基督門徒，這是牧者很重要的功課！
