6:9 萬軍之耶和華曾如此說：敵人必擄盡以色列剩下的民，如同摘淨葡萄一樣。你要像摘葡萄的人摘了又摘，回手放在筐子裡。
6:10 現在我可以向誰說話作見證，使他們聽呢？他們的耳朵未受割禮，不能聽見。看哪，耶和華的話他們以為羞辱，不以為喜悅。
6:11 因此我被耶和華的忿怒充滿，難以含忍。我要傾在街中的孩童和聚會的少年人身上，連夫帶妻，並年老的與日子滿足的都必被擒拿。
6:12 他們的房屋、田地，和妻子都必轉歸別人；我要伸手攻擊這地的居民。這是耶和華說的。
6:13 因為他們從最小的到至大的都一味地貪婪，從先知到祭司都行事虛謊。
6:14 他們輕輕忽忽地醫治我百姓的損傷，說：平安了！平安了！其實沒有平安。
6:15 他們行可憎的事知道慚愧嗎？不然，他們毫不慚愧，也不知羞恥。因此，他們必在仆倒的人中仆倒；我向他們討罪的時候，他們必致跌倒。這是耶和華說的。
9 Thus says the Lord of hosts:
"They shall glean thoroughly as a vine
the remnant of Israel;
like a grape gatherer pass your hand again
over its branches."
10 To whom shall I speak and give warning,
that they may hear?
Behold, their ears are uncircumcised,
they
cannot listen;
behold, the word of the Lord is to them an
object of scorn;
they take no pleasure in it.
11 Therefore I am full of the wrath of the
Lord;
I am
weary of holding it in.
"Pour it out upon the children in the
street,
and upon the gatherings of young men, also;
both
husband and wife shall be taken,
the elderly and the very aged.
12 Their houses shall be turned over to
others,
their fields and wives together,
for I will stretch out my hand
against the inhabitants of the land,"
declares the Lord.
13 "For from the least to the greatest
of them,
everyone is greedy for unjust gain;
and from prophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.
14 They have healed the wound of my people
lightly,
saying, 'Peace, peace,'
when
there is no peace.
15 Were they ashamed when they committed
abomination?
No, they were not at all ashamed;
they did not know how to blush.
Therefore they shall fall among those who
fall;
at
the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown,"
says the Lord.

上帝的僕人不僅要真實地宣告上帝的話語之外，也要確確實實來安慰上帝的百姓。這才是真正的先知和祭司，正如摩西一般，他不僅向以色列人宣告上帝的旨意，也為以色列人的罪在上帝面前代求。
然而假先知和假祭司，卻不是這樣！正如耶利米先知在此說到：『因為他們從最小的到至大的都一味地貪婪，從先知到祭司都行事虛謊。他們輕輕忽忽地醫治我百姓的損傷，說：平安了！平安了！其實沒有平安。』
然而上帝必會追討他們不盡責的罪，正如先知說：『他們行可憎的事知道慚愧嗎？不然，他們毫不慚愧，也不知羞恥。因此，他們必在仆倒的人中仆倒；我向他們討罪的時候，他們必致跌倒。這是耶和華說的。』
讓我們服事上帝的人以此為借鏡，小心我們的事奉，不要造成人遠離上帝或任意而為，讓人透過我們的服事更敬虔、更愛主，並且行在上帝真理的道上，永不離開上帝在基督裡所預備的救恩。
