耶利米書6:6-8

6:6 因為萬軍之耶和華如此說：你們要砍伐樹木，築壘攻打耶路撒冷。這就是那該罰的城，其中盡是欺壓。

6:7 井怎樣湧出水來，這城也照樣湧出惡來；在其間常聽見有強暴毀滅的事，病患損傷也常在我面前。

6:8 耶路撒冷啊，你當受教，免得我心與你生疏，免得我使你荒涼，成為無人居住之地。

6 For thus says the Lord of hosts:

 "Cut down her trees;

 cast up a siege mound against Jerusalem.

This is the city that must be punished;

there is nothing but oppression within her.

7 As a well keeps its water fresh,

so she keeps fresh her evil;

 violence and destruction are heard within her;

sickness and wounds are ever before me.

8 Be warned, O Jerusalem,

 lest I turn from you in disgust,

lest I make you a desolation,

an uninhabited land."

    這是上帝給祂的子民的警語：「耶路撒冷啊，你當受教，免得我心與你生疏，免得我使你荒涼，成為無人居住之地。」

    這也告訴我們，我們與上帝的關係生疏是我們災害的開始，因為上帝的福分就無法臨到我們，我們就會如同無人居住之地，我們的內心會荒涼，生命會感到沒有生趣，越來越提不起勁來活出基督徒的樣式，無法為主耶穌做美好的見證，就會在惡者的攻擊之下而消彌了，雖然不致完全滅亡，但是已經差不多了！

    所以，我們要竭力來追求認識上帝，不要讓自己敗亡！正如馬偕博士所說：「寧可燒毀不可以銹壞！」讓我們努力活出上帝兒女的樣式，成為耶穌基督的忠實門徒！
