2:9 這不法的人來，是照撒但的運動，行各樣的異能、神蹟，和一切虛假的奇事，
2:10 並且在那沉淪的人身上行各樣出於不義的詭詐；因他們不領受愛真理的心，使他們得救。
2:11 故此，上帝就給他們一個生發錯誤的心，叫他們信從虛謊，
2:12 使一切不信真理、倒喜愛不義的人都被定罪。
The coming of the lawless one will be in
accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power
through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness
deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the
truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so
that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not
believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

這裡讓我們感覺人的犯罪好像是上帝的作為，其實不然，是因為人不願意順從真理在先，才會偏向虛謊的事，落入滅亡的路途。保羅越這樣的描述來警戒人，不要失去追求真理的心。人若沒有追求真理的後果，就是落入虛謊之中，就是被罪惡所轄制。
因此人要改變自己的命運，就必須追求真理，遠離虛謊。跟隨基督，就是積極來追求真理的人，將來才會蒙拯救。
