4:8 但從前你們不認識上帝的時候，是給那些本來不是神的作奴僕；
4:9 現在你們既然認識上帝，更可說是被上帝所認識的，怎麼還要歸回那懦弱無用的小學，情願再給他作奴僕呢？
4:10 你們謹守日子、月份、節期、年份，
4:11 我為你們害怕，惟恐我在你們身上是枉費了工夫。
Before you Gentiles knew God, you were
slaves to so-called gods that do not even exist. So now that you know God (or
should I say, now that God knows you), why do you want to go back again and
become slaves once more to the weak and useless spiritual principles of this
world? You are trying to earn favor with God by observing certain days or
months or seasons or years. I fear for you. Perhaps all my hard work with you
was for nothing.
