約拿書2:1-10

2:1 約拿在魚腹中禱告耶和華─他的上帝，

2:2 說：我遭遇患難求告耶和華，你就應允我；從陰間的深處呼求，你就俯聽我的聲音。

2:3 你將我投下深淵，就是海的深處；大水環繞我，你的波浪洪濤都漫過我身。

2:4 我說：我從你眼前雖被驅逐，我仍要仰望你的聖殿。

2:5 諸水環繞我，幾乎淹沒我；深淵圍住我；海草纏繞我的頭。

2:6 我下到山根，地的門將我永遠關住。耶和華─我的上帝啊，你卻將我的性命從坑中救出來。

2:7 我心在我裡面發昏的時候，我就想念耶和華。我的禱告進入你的聖殿，達到你的面前。

2:8 那信奉虛無之神的人，離棄憐愛他們的主；

2:9 但我必用感謝的聲音獻祭與你。我所許的願，我必償還。救恩出於耶和華。

2:10 耶和華吩咐魚，魚就把約拿吐在旱地上。

Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish,  saying,      

“I called out to the Lord, out of my distress,

and he answered me;

out of the belly of Sheol I cried,

and you heard my voice.

  For you cast me into the deep,

into the heart of the seas,

and the flood surrounded me;

all your waves and your billows

passed over me.

  Then I said, ‘I am driven away

from your sight;

yet I shall again look

upon your holy temple.’

The waters closed in over me to take my life;

the deep surrounded me;

weeds were wrapped about my head

  at the roots of the mountains.

I went down to the land

whose bars closed upon me forever;

yet you brought up my life from the pit,

O Lord my God.

  When my life was fainting away,

I remembered the Lord,

and my prayer came to you,

into your holy temple.

  Those who pay regard to vain idols

forsake their hope of steadfast love.

  But I with the voice of thanksgiving

will sacrifice to you;

what I have vowed I will pay.

Salvation belongs to the Lord!”

  And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.
