40:7 在田野的一切軍長和屬他們的人聽見巴比倫王立了亞希甘的兒子基大利作境內的省長，並將沒有擄到巴比倫的男人、婦女、孩童，和境內極窮的人全交給他。
40:8 於是軍長尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利，加利亞的兩個兒子約哈難和約拿單，單戶篾的兒子西萊雅，並尼陀法人以斐的眾子，瑪迦人的兒子耶撒尼亞和屬他們的人，都到米斯巴見基大利。
40:9 沙番的孫子亞希甘的兒子基大利向他們和屬他們的人起誓說：「不要怕服事迦勒底人，只管住在這地，服事巴比倫王，就可以得福。
40:10 至於我，我要住在米斯巴，伺候那到我們這裡來的迦勒底人；只是你們當積蓄酒、油，和夏天的果子，收在器皿裡，住在你們所佔的城邑中。」
40:11 在摩押地和亞捫人中，在以東地和各國的一切猶大人，聽見巴比倫王留下些猶大人，並立沙番的孫子亞希甘的兒子基大利管理他們。
40:12 這一切猶大人就從所趕到的各處回來，到猶大地米斯巴的基大利那裡，又積蓄了許多的酒，並夏天的果子。

7 When
all the leaders of the forces in the open country and their troops heard that
the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam governor in the land,
and had committed to him men, women, and children, those of the poorest of the
land who had not been taken into exile to Babylon, 8they went to
Gedaliah at Mizpah—Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan son of Kareah, Seraiah son
of Tanhumeth, the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, Jezaniah son of the
Maacathite, they and their troops. 9Gedaliah son of Ahikam son of
Shaphan swore to them and their troops, saying, “Do not be afraid to serve the
Chaldeans. Stay in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall go well
with you. 10As for me, I am staying at Mizpah to represent you
before the Chaldeans who come to us; but as for you, gather wine and summer
fruits and oil, and store them in your vessels, and live in the towns that you
have taken over.” 11Likewise, when all the Judeans who were in Moab
and among the Ammonites and in Edom and in other lands heard that the king of
Babylon had left a remnant in Judah and had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam
son of Shaphan as governor over them, 12then all the Judeans
returned from all the places to which they had been scattered and came to the
land of Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah; and they gathered wine and summer fruits
in great abundance.

在猶太被滅之後，仍然有一個官方的臨時政府，巴比倫王立了亞希甘的兒子基大利作境內的省長，並將沒有擄到巴比倫的男人、婦女、孩童，和境內極窮的人全交給他。
然而這位首領是為了自己，不是為了百姓，因為他說：「不要怕服事迦勒底人，只管住在這地，服事巴比倫王，就可以得福。至於我，我要住在米斯巴，伺候那到我們這裡來的迦勒底人；只是你們當積蓄酒、油，和夏天的果子，收在器皿裡，住在你們所佔的城邑中。」
許多時候，人只求短暫的平安和豐富，沒有想到永恆的恩典！以致讓人誤解信仰只解決今生的問題，其實包括永恆的事！因為上帝是沒有任何事情可以限制住祂的，祂是全能的！
