115:1 耶和華啊，榮耀不要歸與我們，不要歸與我們；要因你的慈愛和誠實歸在你的名下！
115:2 為何容外邦人說：他們的上帝在哪裡呢？
115:3 然而，我們的上帝在天上，都隨自己的意旨行事。
115:4 他們的偶像是金的，銀的，是人手所造的，
115:5 有口卻不能言，有眼卻不能看，
115:6 有耳卻不能聽，有鼻卻不能聞，
115:7 有手卻不能摸，有腳卻不能走，有喉嚨也不能出聲。
115:8 造他的要和他一樣；凡靠他的也要如此。

詩人在此宣告上帝勝過外邦的偶像，因為一般的宗教人造神，不僅神本身是由人來的，神像也是人手所造的，完全是人的傑作，而且是沒有作用的：「他們的偶像是金的，銀的，是人手所造的，有口卻不能言，有眼卻不能看，有耳卻不能聽，有鼻卻不能聞，有手卻不能摸，有腳卻不能走，有喉嚨也不能出聲。造他的要和他一樣；凡靠他的也要如此。」
人為何要以靠這些無能的東西，造成自己也是無能呢﹖為何不倚靠有能的上帝呢﹖因為「我們的上帝在天上，都隨自己的意旨行事」！因此，詩人說：「耶和華啊，榮耀不要歸與我們，不要歸與我們；要因你的慈愛和誠實歸在你的名下！」
也因為如此「以色列啊，你要倚靠耶和華！他是你的幫助和你的盾牌。亞倫家啊，你們要倚靠耶和華！他是你們的幫助和你們的盾牌。你們敬畏耶和華的，要倚靠耶和華！他是你們的幫助和你們的盾牌。」
詩人甚至在此見證：「凡敬畏耶和華的，無論大小，主必賜福給他」。也因此詩人呼籲大家要讚美上帝，「死人不能讚美耶和華；下到寂靜中的也都不能。但我們要稱頌耶和華，從今時直到永遠。你們要讚美耶和華！」
