72:1 （所羅門的詩。）上帝啊，求你將判斷的權柄賜給王，將公義賜給王的兒子。
72:2 他要按公義審判你的民，按公平審判你的困苦人。
72:3 大山小山都要因公義使民得享平安。
72:4 他必為民中的困苦人伸冤，拯救窮乏之輩，壓碎那欺壓人的。
72:5 太陽還存，月亮還在，人要敬畏你，直到萬代！
72:6 他必降臨，像雨降在已割的草地上，如甘霖滋潤田地。
72:7 在他的日子，義人要發旺，大有平安，好像月亮長存。

一開頭說到這首詩是「所羅門的詩」，並不是說是所羅門寫的，其真正作者是大衛，因為這受詩的最後說到：「耶西的兒子─大衛的祈禱完畢」。表示這首詩是大衛的禱告，他希望所羅門如同上帝的兒子一般治理以色列國，使以色列國如同地上的天國一般！
當然大衛期盼的並沒有完全實現，因為所羅門僅僅是人的兒子，不是上帝的兒子，所以不能將以色列建立為地上的天國。我們讀聖經時看見，所羅門晚年受到嬪妃的影響，敬拜外邦偶像，導致他逝世以後，以色列分裂成為南國和北國。
然而主耶穌和所羅門王不同，祂不只是人子，更是上帝的獨生子，也因為這樣，祂可以建立上帝的國，使上帝的榮耀彰顯，而且將來必完全實現，正如啟示錄中的宣告：「第七位天使吹號，天上就有大聲音說：世上的國成了我主和主基督的國；他要作王，直到永永遠遠。」（11:15）
而上帝國完全實現的時候，聖經告訴我們信靠主的人景況是：「不再有黑夜；他們也不用燈光、日光，因為主上帝要光照他們。他們要作王，直到永永遠遠。」(啟示錄22:5)
讓我們期盼那日快快實現，可以向主呼喚：「主耶穌啊，我願你來！」(啟示錄22:19)也可像大衛一樣禱告：「獨行奇事的耶和華─以色列的上帝是應當稱頌的！他榮耀的名也當稱頌，直到永遠。願他的榮耀充滿全地！阿們！阿們！」
