24:12 耶和華對摩西說：「你上山到我這裡來，住在這裡，我要將石版並我所寫的律法和誡命賜給你，使你可以教訓百姓。」
24:13 摩西和他的幫手約書亞起來，上了上帝的山。
24:14 摩西對長老說：「你們在這裡等著，等到我們再回來，有亞倫、戶珥與你們同在。凡有爭訟的，都可以就近他們去。」
24:15 摩西上山，有雲彩把山遮蓋。
24:16 耶和華的榮耀停於西奈山；雲彩遮蓋山六天，第七天他從雲中召摩西。
24:17 耶和華的榮耀在山頂上，在以色列人眼前，形狀如烈火。
24:18 摩西進入雲中上山，在山上四十晝夜。
12 The Lord said
to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the
tablets of stone with the law and commandments I have written for their
instruction.”
13 Then Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up
on the mountain of God. 14 He said to the elders, “Wait
here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur are with you, and anyone
involved in a dispute can go to them.”
15 When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it, 16 and
the glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud
covered the mountain, and on the seventh day, the Lord called to Moses
from within the cloud. 17 To the Israelites the glory of
the Lord looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain. 18 Then
Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the
mountain forty days and forty nights.

從這段記載中我們發現摩西受召朝見上帝並不是馬上見面，還停留了六日，第七日上帝才讓摩西來見祂。這也讓我們感受到朝見上帝的等候是非常重要的，也載這等候終讓摩西知道上帝是可畏的，要用崇敬與順服的態度來面對上帝。
現代人自我中心很重，常常以自己為首，要屈服在上帝面前是不容易的！然而我們也必須像摩西所受的操練一樣，願意放下自己，等候上帝的時間，讓上帝來安祂的時刻成就美好的事！
「等候」是學習順服重要的功課，讓我們勇敢來面對這樣的操練，預備好自己，成為主可用的器皿，如同摩西一樣，千萬不要著急和躁動，這是無法成就上帝所託付的使命！
