9:1 但那受過痛苦的必不再見幽暗。從前上帝使西布倫地和拿弗他利地被藐視，末後卻使這沿海的路，約旦河外，外邦人的加利利地得著榮耀。
9:2 在黑暗中行走的百姓看見了大光；住在死蔭之地的人有光照耀他們。
9:3 你使這國民繁多，加增他們的喜樂；他們在你面前歡喜，好像收割的歡喜，像人分擄物那樣的快樂。
9:4 因為他們所負的重軛和肩頭上的杖，並欺壓他們人的棍，你都已經折斷，好像在米甸的日子一樣。
9:5 戰士在亂殺之間所穿戴的盔甲，並那滾在血中的衣服，都必作為可燒的，當作火柴。
9:6 因有一嬰孩為我們而生；有一子賜給我們。政權必擔在他的肩頭上；他名稱為「奇妙策士、全能的上帝、永在的父、和平的君」。
9:7 他的政權與平安必加增無窮。他必在大衛的寶座上治理他的國，以公平公義使國堅定穩固，從今直到永遠。萬軍之耶和華的熱心必成就這事。
Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom
for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and
the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations,
by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan—
The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep
darkness
a
light has dawned.
You have enlarged the nation
and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as warriors rejoice
when dividing the plunder.
For as in the day of Midian’s defeat,
you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them,
the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor.
Every warrior’s boot used in battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning,
will be fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and
peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.

以賽亞先知所預言的大為子孫，在新約中被指向耶穌基督，但是在這段經文還是指向上帝如何拯救猶大的百姓，使他們不再受到以色列害亞蘭的欺壓，使他們重獲自由。而這樣的事，是上帝所樂意成就的！
從聖經中我們可以感受到，上帝是樂意且主動施恩會給人。但是，問題出現在人被罪惡挾制，不願意順服上帝的帶領，不滿足於上帝所賜的。想要更多、更豐盛、貪心不足，於是造成人生許多的愁苦。
因此，然必須離棄罪惡歸向上帝，才會有真正的平安。而耶穌基督成為小嬰孩來到這世界，也是要我們透過祂進入上帝的國，享受真正的平安，知道順從上帝的道路是最美好的。
