1:20 智慧在街市上呼喊，在寬闊處發聲，

1:22 說：你們愚昧人喜愛愚昧，褻慢人喜歡褻慢，愚頑人恨惡知識，要到幾時呢？

when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

《箴言》作者將「智慧」擬人化，成為一位呼喊人來尋求祂的主體。但是，我們不可以將「智慧」看為基督，畢竟基督是創造主，而智慧只不過是基督的工具或器皿，讓人透過它的呼求來尋求上帝，進而歸向上帝，這才是智慧的目的。
但是人卻因為罪性的影響，對上帝是存悖逆的心。所以，智慧呼籲人來歸向它時，人是拒絕的，不願意聽從。罪性使人沒有能力來順服上帝，不願意聽從智慧的引導。除非人被聖靈感動，認是耶穌基督是上帝的兒子，並且接受祂為救主，我們的生命才會被更新，才能夠認是真理並順服上帝。
也因為這樣，我們傳福音之前，要為我們傳講的對象禱告，使他們可以被聖靈感動，而接受耶穌基督為主，尊上帝為大，如此才能夠真正被上帝拯救！
