3:5 耶和華曉諭摩西說：
3:6 「你使利未支派近前來，站在祭司亞倫面前好服事他，
3:7 替他和會眾在會幕前守所吩咐的，辦理帳幕的事。
3:8 又要看守會幕的器具，並守所吩咐以色列人的，辦理帳幕的事。
3:9 你要將利未人給亞倫和他的兒子，因為他們是從以色列人中選出來給他的。
3:10 你要囑咐亞倫和他的兒子謹守自己祭司的職任。近前來的外人必被治死。」

5 The Lord said to Moses, 6 “Bring the tribe of Levi and
present them to Aaron the priest to assist him. 7 They are to perform duties for him and for the
whole community at the tent of meeting by doing the work of the tabernacle.
8 They are to take care
of all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, fulfilling the obligations of
the Israelites by doing the work of the tabernacle. 9 Give the Levites to Aaron and
his sons; they are the Israelites who are to be given wholly to him. 10 Appoint Aaron and his sons
to serve as priests; anyone else who approaches the sanctuary is to be put to
death.”

除了不要獻凡火，上帝也要亞倫家看重自己的職分，就是「亞倫和他的兒子謹守自己祭司的職任。近前來的外人必被治死。」
雖然利未人是上帝所揀選的，「站在祭司亞倫面前好服事他，替他和會眾在會幕前守所吩咐的，辦理帳幕的事。又要看守會幕的器具，並守所吩咐以色列人的，辦理帳幕的事。你要將利未人給亞倫和他的兒子，因為他們是從以色列人中選出來給他的。」
但是大祭司的職分，是利未人無法代替的，只有單屬於亞倫家的！因為他們是基督的預表，正如使徒行傳4章12節說：「除他以外，別無拯救；因為在天下人間，沒有賜下別的名，我們可以靠著得救。」
