哥林多前書13:1-3

13:1 我若能說萬人的方言，並天使的話語，卻沒有愛，我就成了鳴的鑼，響的鈸一般。
13:2 我若有先知講道之能，也明白各樣的奧祕，各樣的知識，而且有全備的信，叫我能夠移山，卻沒有愛，我就算不得甚麼。
13:3 我若將所有的賙濟窮人，又捨己身叫人焚燒，卻沒有愛，仍然與我無益。

If I speak in the tongues^[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. ² If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. ³ If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,^[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

    保羅在12章31節說：「你們要切切地求那更大的恩賜。我現今把最妙的道指示你們。」

    因為許多人人認為恩賜很重要，是領受聖靈的記號，證明自己是上帝所揀選的人，是蒙恩得救的人，讓人覺得自己有天堂的門票了。然而保羅要我們看重的不是恩賜，而是「愛」！就是要愛上帝和愛鄰舍（人）。

    基督徒真正的記號不是恩賜，而是「愛」，所以保羅鼓勵基督徒要從主那裡領受「愛」，勝於其他恩賜。
