3:16 過了七日，耶和華的話臨到我說：
3:17 「人子啊，我立你作以色列家守望的人，所以你要聽我口中的話，替我警戒他們。
3:18 我何時指著惡人說：他必要死；你若不警戒他，也不勸戒他，使他離開惡行，拯救他的性命，這惡人必死在罪孽之中；我卻要向你討他喪命的罪（原文是血）。
3:19 倘若你警戒惡人，他仍不轉離罪惡，也不離開惡行，他必死在罪孽之中，你卻救自己脫離了罪。
3:20 再者，義人何時離義而犯罪，我將絆腳石放在他面前，他就必死；因你沒有警戒他，他必死在罪中，他素來所行的義不被記念；我卻要向你討他喪命的罪（原文是血）。
3:21 倘若你警戒義人，使他不犯罪，他就不犯罪；他因受警戒就必存活，你也救自己脫離了罪。」
And at the end of seven days, the word of
the Lord came to me: “Son of man, I have
made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my
mouth, you shall give them warning from me.
If I say to the wicked, You shall surely die,’ and you give him no
warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his
life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will
require at your hand. But if you warn
the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way,
he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul. Again, if a righteous person turns from his
righteousness and commits injustice, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he
shall die. Because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his
righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will
require at your hand. But if you warn
the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live,
because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul.”

這段話可以說是先知的守則，也是傳道人守則。意思說當上帝的守望者或傳道者，有看守弟兄姊妹的職責，要警告他們、提醒他們，不要讓他們落入危險之中而不知道。
身為教會的傳道者，更是不要因怕得罪人而不敢發出上帝的警告，我們若必口不言，讓弟兄姊妹得罪上帝，而落入危險之中，上帝必定將罪罰規在我們身上，到時我們不只承受上帝的憤怒，我們心中的罪咎，必定讓我們受不了！
我們要像保羅所說：「我傳福音原沒有可誇的，因為我是不得已的。若不傳福音，我便有禍了。」
勇敢地宣告，不然就有禍了！
