1:15 當然，有些人傳揚基督是出於嫉妒和好鬥的心理，但也有些是出於誠意的。
1:16 後者出於愛心而這樣做，因為他們知道上帝交給我為福音辯護的使命。
1:17 前者傳基督的動機不純，是出於野心，想趁著我坐牢的時候給我製造更多的麻煩。
1:18 可是，這有甚麼關係呢？不管他們的動機對不對，只要基督被傳開了，我就會高興。我還要繼續高興；
It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
