4:4 你們要因為跟主連結而常常喜樂。我再說，你們要喜樂！
4:5 你們也要向大家表現謙讓。主就要來了。
4:6 你們應該一無掛慮；要在禱告中把你們所需要的告訴上帝，用感謝的心祈求。
4:7 上帝所賜那超越人所能理解的平安，會藉著基督耶穌，保守你們的心懷意念。
4:8 末了，弟兄姊妹們，你們要常常留意那些美善和值得讚揚的事。一切真實、高尚、公正、純潔、可愛，和光榮的事都應該重視。
4:9 你們從我所學習，領受，或聽到，看到的言行，都要實行出來。那賜平安的上帝就會與你們同在。
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

基督徒最大之動力是在主裡的喜樂。所以保羅說：『你們要因為跟主連結而常常喜樂。我再說，你們要喜樂！』
也因為這份「喜樂」，使我們得著真正之滿足，使我們享受一無掛慮之生活，正如保羅說：『上帝所賜那超越人所能理解的平安，會藉著基督耶穌，保守你們的心懷意念。』
「主的同在」與「主的再來」，是我們信仰之兩大基石，一是今生之喜樂，另一是永遠之依靠。當然主的應許也有些「要求」，就是：『你們要常常留意那些美善和值得讚揚的事。一切真實、高尚、公正、純潔、可愛，和光榮的事都應該重視。你們從我所學習，領受，或聽到，看到的言行，都要實行出來。』
