15 愛 子 是 那 不 能 看 見 之 神 的 像 ， 是 首 生 的 ， 在 一 切 被 造 的 以 先 。 16 因 為 萬 有 都 是 靠 他 造 的 ， 無 論 是 天 上 的 ， 地 上 的 ； 能 看 見 的 ， 不 能看 見 的 ； 或 是 有 位 的 ， 主 治 的 ， 執 政 的 ， 掌 權 的 ； 一 概 都 是 藉 著 他 造 的 ， 又 是 為 他 造 的 。 17 他 在 萬 有 之 先 ； 萬 有 也 靠 他 而 立 。 18 他也 是 教 會 全 體 之 首 。 他 是 元 始 ， 是 從 死 裡 首 先 復 生 的 ， 使 他 可 以 在 凡 事 上 居 首 位 。 19 因 為 父 喜 歡 叫 一 切 的 豐 盛 在 他 裡 面 居 住 。 20 既然 藉 著 他 在 十 字 架 上 所 流 的 血 成 就 了 和 平 ， 便 藉 著 他 叫 萬 有 ─ 無 論 是 地 上 的 、 天 上 的 ─ 都 與 自 己 和 好了 。
15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

歌雖好聽卻完全不合真理，因為祂﹙耶穌基督﹚不單單是一個人，祂是完全的人，從來沒有犯罪。祂也是完全的上帝，祂創造萬有，掌管萬有凡事居首位。也因為如此，祂才能擔當上帝對最之無限的憤怒。祂有形有體，取了人的樣式才能代表人被釘十字架，完成上帝預備之救恩。
而上帝如此行，是因為愛的緣故，不願人受永死之苦；也為了祂的榮耀，是使人得享永生之福。所以祂立下和好之約，使人一切之罪債得償還。
所以基督的地位是何等的崇高與尊貴。
