21:1 （大衛的詩，交與伶長。）耶和華啊，王必因你的能力歡喜；因你的救恩，他的快樂何其大！
21:2 他心裡所願的，你已經賜給他；他嘴唇所求的，你未嘗不應允。（細拉）
21:3 你以美福迎接他，把精金的冠冕戴在他頭上。
21:4 他向你求壽，你便賜給他，就是日子長久，直到永遠。
21:5 他因你的救恩大有榮耀；你又將尊榮威嚴加在他身上。
21:6 你使他有洪福，直到永遠，又使他在你面前歡喜快樂。
21:7 王倚靠耶和華，因至高者的慈愛必不搖動。
21:8 你的手要搜出你的一切仇敵；你的右手要搜出那些恨你的人。
21:9 你發怒的時候，要使他們如在炎熱的火爐中。耶和華要在他的震怒中吞滅他們；那火要把他們燒盡了。
21:10 你必從世上滅絕他們的子孫（原文是果子），從人間滅絕他們的後裔。
21:11 因為他們有意加害於你；他們想出計謀，卻不能做成。
21:12 你必使他們轉背逃跑，向他們的臉搭箭在弦。
21:13 耶和華啊，願你因自己的能力顯為至高！這樣，我們就唱詩，歌頌你的大能。

and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.
4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—
length of days, for ever and ever.
5 Through the victories you gave, his glory is great;
you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.
6 Surely you have granted him unending blessings
and made him glad with the joy of your presence.
7 For the king trusts in the Lord;
through the unfailing love of the Most High
he will not be shaken.

11 Though they plot evil against you
and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.
12 You will make them turn their backs
when you aim at them with drawn bow.

說到為君王禱告，就想到保羅的話：「我勸你，第一要為萬人懇求、禱告、代求、祝謝；為君王和一切在位的，也該如此，使我們可以敬虔、端正、平安無事地度日。這是好的，在上帝我們救主面前可蒙悅納。」（提摩太前書2:1-3）
可見上帝的旨意，也是盼望每一位基督徒在世上能夠「可以敬虔、端正、平安無事地度日」。雖然逼迫是免不了的，正如保羅在另一處也說：「不但如此，凡立志在基督耶穌裡敬虔度日的也都要受逼迫。」（提摩太後書3:12）
然而不管遭遇如何，基督所求的，就是真正的平安，也就是有清明的政治，君王可以執行上帝所賦予他的任務，因為君王雖然是國家的統治者，仍然是上帝的僕人，要為上帝執行公平和正義！
也因此，基督徒在民主時代，更要盡公民的責任，讓我們為實現上帝的旨意而關心政治，為國家的領袖禱告，為官員和施政者禱告，讓平安充滿我們所處的地方！
