8:1 萬軍之耶和華的話臨到我說：
8:2 「萬軍之耶和華如此說：我為錫安心裡極其火熱，我為她火熱，向她的仇敵發烈怒。
8:3 耶和華如此說：我現在回到錫安，要住在耶路撒冷中。耶路撒冷必稱為誠實的城，萬軍之耶和華的山必稱為聖山。
8:4 萬軍之耶和華如此說：將來必有年老的男女坐在耶路撒冷街上，因為年紀老邁就手拿柺杖。
8:5 城中街上必滿有男孩女孩玩耍。
8:6 萬軍之耶和華如此說：到那日，這事在餘剩的民眼中看為希奇，在我眼中也看為希奇嗎？這是萬軍之耶和華說的。
8:7 萬軍之耶和華如此說：我要從東方從西方救回我的民。
8:8 我要領他們來，使他們住在耶路撒冷中。他們要作我的子民，我要作他們的上帝，都憑誠實和公義。」
And the word of the Lord of hosts came,
saying, “Thus says the Lord of hosts: I
am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great
wrath. Thus says the Lord: I have
returned to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall
be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts, the holy
mountain. Thus says the Lord of hosts:
Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each with
staff in hand because of great age. And
the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its
streets. Thus says the Lord of hosts: If
it is marvelous in the sight of the remnant of this people in those days,
should it also be marvelous in my sight, declares the Lord of hosts? Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will
save my people from the east country and from the west country, and I will bring them to dwell in the midst
of Jerusalem. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in
faithfulness and in righteousness.”

上帝要重建耶路撒冷，特別是錫安的聖殿，使以色列人重新回到耶和華的信仰與敬拜！不僅如此，在生活中要充滿誠實和公義。
「因為上帝的國不在乎吃喝，只在乎公義、和平，並聖靈中的喜樂。」（羅馬書14:17）
也因此「誠實和公義」是信仰重要的指標，若敬畏上帝，自然就充滿「誠實和公義」，社會國家如此，教會更是如此！
