1:12 那時，撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯和約撒答的兒子大祭司約書亞，並剩下的百姓，都聽從耶和華─他們上帝的話和先知哈該奉耶和華─他們上帝差來所說的話；百姓也在耶和華面前存敬畏的心。
1:13 耶和華的使者哈該奉耶和華差遣對百姓說：「耶和華說：我與你們同在。」
1:14 耶和華激動猶大省長撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯和約撒答的兒子大祭司約書亞，並剩下之百姓的心，他們就來為萬軍之耶和華─他們上帝的殿做工。
1:15 這是在大流士王第二年六月二十四日。
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and
Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the
people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the
prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him. And the people feared the Lord. Then
Haggai, the messenger of the Lord, spoke to the people with the Lord's message,
"I am with you, declares the Lord." And the Lord stirred up the
spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of
Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant
of the people. And they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts,
their God, on the twenty- fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the
second year of Darius the king.

從這裡的記載，讓我們知道哈該與撒迦利亞書是同一時代的人，然而哈該的激勵，讓猶大回歸的人努力重建聖殿！尤其是在猶大省長撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯和約撒答的兒子大祭司約書亞的帶領下群策群力建聖殿！
