11:4 耶和華─我的上帝如此說：「你─撒迦利亞要牧養這將宰的群羊。
11:5 買他們的宰了他們，以自己為無罪；賣他們的說：『耶和華是應當稱頌的，因我成為富足。』牧養他們的並不憐恤他們。
11:6 耶和華說：『我不再憐恤這地的居民，必將這民交給各人的鄰舍和他們王的手中。他們必毀滅這地，我也不救這民脫離他們的手。』」
Thus said the Lord my God: “Become shepherd
of the flock doomed to slaughter. Those
who buy them slaughter them and go unpunished, and those who sell them say,
‘Blessed be the Lord, I have become rich,’ and their own shepherds have no pity
on them. For I will no longer have pity
on the inhabitants of this land, declares the Lord. Behold, I will cause each
of them to fall into the hand of his neighbor, and each into the hand of his
king, and they shall crush the land, and I will deliver none from their hand.”

上帝要求撒迦利亞要牧養羊群以啟示出他的心意，這群羊原本的牧人不善待羊群，羊群即將遭上帝毀滅。
