41:1 你能用魚鉤釣上鱷魚嗎？能用繩子壓下牠的舌頭嗎？
41:2 你能用繩索穿牠的鼻子嗎？能用鉤穿牠的腮骨嗎？
41:3 牠豈向你連連懇求，說柔和的話嗎？
41:4 豈肯與你立約，使你拿牠永遠作奴僕嗎？
41:5 你豈可拿牠當雀鳥玩耍嗎？豈可為你的幼女將牠拴住嗎？
41:6 搭夥的漁夫豈可拿牠當貨物嗎？能把牠分給商人嗎？
41:7 你能用倒鉤槍扎滿牠的皮，能用魚叉叉滿牠的頭嗎？
41:8 你按手在牠身上，想與牠爭戰，就不再這樣行吧！
41:9 人指望捉拿牠是徒然的；一見牠，豈不喪膽嗎？
41:10 沒有那麼兇猛的人敢惹牠。這樣，誰能在我面前站立得住呢？
41:11 誰先給我甚麼，使我償還呢？天下萬物都是我的。
41:12 論到鱷魚的肢體和其大力，並美好的骨骼，我不能緘默不言。
41:13 誰能剝牠的外衣？誰能進牠上下牙骨之間呢？
41:14 誰能開牠的腮頰？牠牙齒四圍是可畏的。
41:15 牠以堅固的鱗甲為可誇，緊緊合閉，封得嚴密。
41:16 這鱗甲一一相連，甚至氣不得透入其間，
41:17 都是互相聯絡、膠結，不能分離。
41:18 牠打噴嚏就發出光來；牠眼睛好像早晨的光線（原文是眼皮）。
41:19 從牠口中發出燒著的火把，與飛迸的火星；
41:20 從牠鼻孔冒出煙來，如燒開的鍋和點著的蘆葦。
41:21 牠的氣點著煤炭，有火焰從牠口中發出。
41:22 牠頸項中存著勁力；在牠面前的都恐嚇蹦跳。
41:23 牠的肉塊互相聯絡，緊貼其身，不能搖動。
41:24 牠的心結實如石頭，如下磨石那樣結實。
41:25 牠一起來，勇士都驚恐，心裡慌亂，便都昏迷。
41:26 人若用刀，用槍，用標槍，用尖槍扎牠，都是無用。
41:27 牠以鐵為乾草，以銅為爛木。
41:28 箭不能恐嚇牠使牠逃避；彈石在牠看為碎秸。
41:29 棍棒算為禾秸；牠嗤笑短槍颼的響聲。
41:30 牠肚腹下如尖瓦片；牠如釘耙經過淤泥。
41:31 牠使深淵開滾如鍋，使洋海如鍋中的膏油。
41:32 牠行的路隨後發光，令人想深淵如同白髮。
41:33 在地上沒有像牠造的那樣，無所懼怕。
41:34 凡高大的，牠無不藐視；牠在驕傲的水族上作王。
Can
you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook
or tie down its tongue with a rope?
2 Can you put a cord through its nose
or pierce its jaw with a hook?
3 Will it keep begging you for mercy?
Will it speak to you with gentle words?
4 Will it make an agreement with you
for you to take it as your slave for life?
5 Can you make a pet of it like a bird
or put it on a leash for the young women in your house?
6 Will traders barter for it?
Will they divide it up among the merchants?
7 Can you fill its hide with harpoons
or its head with fishing spears?
8 If you lay a hand on it,
you will remember the struggle and never do it again!
9 Any hope of subduing it is false;
the mere sight of it is overpowering.
10 No one is fierce enough to rouse it.
Who then is able to stand against me?
11 Who has a claim against me that I must pay?
Everything under heaven belongs to me.
12 “I
will not fail to speak of Leviathan’s limbs,
its strength and its graceful form.
13 Who can strip off its outer coat?
Who can penetrate its double coat of armor[b]?
14 Who dares open the doors of its mouth,
ringed about with fearsome teeth?
15 Its back has[c] rows of
shields
tightly sealed together;
16 each is so close to the next
that no air can pass between.
17 They are joined fast to one another;
they cling together and cannot be parted.
18 Its snorting throws out flashes of light;
its eyes are like the rays of dawn.
19 Flames stream from its mouth;
sparks of fire shoot out.
20 Smoke pours from its nostrils
as from a boiling pot over burning reeds.
21 Its breath sets coals ablaze,
and flames dart from its mouth.
22 Strength resides in its neck;
dismay goes before it.
23 The folds of its flesh are tightly joined;
they are firm and immovable.
24 Its chest is hard as rock,
hard as a lower millstone.
25 When it rises up, the mighty are terrified;
they retreat before its thrashing.
26 The sword that reaches it has no effect,
nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.
27 Iron it treats like straw
and bronze like rotten wood.
28 Arrows do not make it flee;
slingstones are like chaff to it.
29 A club seems to it but a piece of straw;
it laughs at the rattling of the lance.
30 Its undersides are jagged potsherds,
leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.
31 It makes the depths churn like a boiling caldron
and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 It leaves a glistening wake behind it;
one would think the deep had white hair.
33 Nothing on earth is its equal—
a creature without fear.
34 It looks down on all that are haughty;
it is king over all that are proud.”

上帝不僅用河馬來激勵約伯，祂也用鱷魚來彰顯上帝創造的偉大，更讓約伯知道正義的彰顯是需要靠有能力的上帝，因此不是來質疑上帝的公平與正義，反倒要敬畏上帝並倚靠祂！
我們常常忘記罪惡和苦難不是上帝造的，是受造之物變質產生的，所以要追討的是反對上帝的惡者，不是反過來質疑與否定上帝，這對上帝不僅不公平，更阻擋人與上帝的聯合，使得罪惡更囂張！
因此面對罪惡和苦難，不是質疑和抱怨上帝怎麼讓我們遇到，而是要求上帝給我們倚靠和賜我們能力與智慧來勝過惡者的作為，並且相信上帝必定將魔鬼和其僕役送入地獄火湖！而我們要靠上帝在基督裡的拯救，使我們與基督同在榮耀裡，實現我們是上帝的兒女之應許！
