39:1 山巖間的野山羊幾時生產，你知道嗎？母鹿下犢之期，你能察定嗎？
39:2 牠們懷胎的月數，你能數算嗎？牠們幾時生產，你能曉得嗎？
39:3 牠們屈身，將子生下，就除掉疼痛。
39:4 這子漸漸肥壯，在荒野長大，去而不回。
39:5 誰放野驢出去自由？誰解開快驢的繩索？
39:6 我使曠野作牠的住處，使鹹地當牠的居所。
39:7 牠嗤笑城內的喧嚷，不聽趕牲口的喝聲。
39:8 遍山是牠的草場；牠尋找各樣青綠之物。
39:9 野牛豈肯服事你？豈肯住在你的槽旁？
39:10 你豈能用套繩將野牛籠在犁溝之間？牠豈肯隨你耙山谷之地？
39:11 豈可因牠的力大就倚靠牠？豈可把你的工交給牠做嗎？
39:12 豈可信靠牠把你的糧食運到家，又收聚你禾場上的穀嗎？
39:13 鴕鳥的翅膀歡然搧展，豈是顯慈愛的翎毛和羽毛嗎？
39:14 因牠把蛋留在地上，在塵土中使得溫暖；
39:15 卻想不到被腳踹碎，或被野獸踐踏。
39:16 牠忍心待雛，似乎不是自己的；雖然徒受勞苦，也不為雛懼怕；
39:17 因為上帝使牠沒有智慧，也未將悟性賜給牠。
39:18 牠幾時挺身展開翅膀，就嗤笑馬和騎馬的人。
39:19 馬的大力是你所賜的嗎？牠頸項上挓挲的鬃是你給牠披上的嗎？
39:20 是你叫牠跳躍像蝗蟲嗎？牠噴氣之威使人驚惶。
39:21 牠在谷中刨地，自喜其力；牠出去迎接佩帶兵器的人。
39:22 牠嗤笑可怕的事並不驚惶，也不因刀劍退回。
39:23 箭袋和發亮的槍，並短槍在牠身上錚錚有聲。
39:24 牠發猛烈的怒氣將地吞下；一聽角聲就不耐站立。
39:25 角每發聲，牠說呵哈；牠從遠處聞著戰氣，又聽見軍長大發雷聲和兵丁吶喊。
39:26 鷹雀飛翔，展開翅膀一直向南，豈是藉你的智慧嗎？
39:27 大鷹上騰在高處搭窩，豈是聽你的吩咐嗎？
39:28 牠住在山巖，以山峰和堅固之所為家，
39:29 從那裡窺看食物，眼睛遠遠觀望。
39:30 牠的雛也咂血；被殺的人在哪裡，牠也在那裡。
“Do
you know when the mountain goats give birth?
Do you watch when the doe bears her fawn?
2 Do you count the months till they bear?
Do you know the time they give birth?
3 They crouch down and bring forth their young;
their labor pains are ended.
4 Their young thrive and grow strong in the wilds;
they leave and do not return.
5 “Who
let the wild donkey go free?
Who untied its ropes?
6 I gave it the wasteland as its home,
the salt flats as its habitat.
7 It laughs at the commotion in the town;
it does not hear a driver’s shout.
8 It ranges the hills for its pasture
and searches for any green thing.
9 “Will
the wild ox consent to serve you?
Will it stay by your manger at night?
10 Can you hold it to the furrow with a harness?
Will it till the valleys behind you?
11 Will you rely on it for its great strength?
Will you leave your heavy work to it?
12 Can you trust it to haul in your grain
and bring it to your threshing floor?
13 “The
wings of the ostrich flap joyfully,
though they cannot compare
with the wings and feathers of the stork.
14 She lays her eggs on the ground
and lets them warm in the sand,
15 unmindful that a foot may crush them,
that some wild animal may trample them.
16 She treats her young harshly, as if they were not hers;
she cares not that her labor was in vain,
17 for God did not endow her with wisdom
or give her a share of good sense.
18 Yet when she spreads her feathers to run,
she laughs at horse and rider.
19 “Do
you give the horse its strength
or clothe its neck with a flowing mane?
20 Do you make it leap like a locust,
striking terror with its proud snorting?
21 It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength,
and charges into the fray.
22 It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing;
it does not shy away from the sword.
23 The quiver rattles against its side,
along with the flashing spear and lance.
24 In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground;
it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds.
25 At the blast of the trumpet it snorts, ‘Aha!’
It catches the scent of battle from afar,
the shout of commanders and the battle cry.
26 “Does
the hawk take flight by your wisdom
and spread its wings toward the south?
27 Does the eagle soar at your command
and build its nest on high?
28 It dwells on a cliff and stays there at night;
a rocky crag is its stronghold.
29 From there it looks for food;
its eyes detect it from afar.
30 Its young ones feast on blood,
and where the slain are, there it is.”

上帝創造萬物是照祂的智慧，這些是人無法完全知道的，除非透過上帝的啟示，人才可以完全明白，才會讚嘆上帝的奇妙！正如羅馬書1章19-20節所說：「上帝的事情，人所能知道的，原顯明在人心裡，因為上帝已經給他們顯明。自從造天地以來，上帝的永能和神性是明明可知的，雖是眼不能見，但藉著所造之物就可以曉得，叫人無可推諉。」
然而保羅面對偉大的上帝，也是這樣讚嘆：「深哉，上帝豐富的智慧和知識！他的判斷何其難測！他的蹤跡何其難尋！誰知道主的心？誰作過他的謀士呢？誰是先給了他，使他後來償還呢？因為萬有都是本於他，倚靠他，歸於他。願榮耀歸給他，直到永遠。阿們！」（羅馬書11:33-36）
的確，上帝是超然、獨一、無可比擬的上帝！保羅這段話，讓我們想起先知以賽亞所說：「誰曾用手心量諸水，用手虎口量蒼天，用升斗盛大地的塵土，用秤稱山嶺，用天平平岡陵呢？誰曾測度耶和華的心（或譯：誰曾指示耶和華的靈），或作他的謀士指教他呢？他與誰商議，誰教導他，誰將公平的路指示他，又將知識教訓他，將通達的道指教他呢？…你們究竟將誰比上帝，用甚麼形像與上帝比較呢？」（以賽亞書40:12-14,18）
所以，上帝用一連串的問句來質問約伯，就是要約伯認識到，上帝是超越一切的上帝，他質疑上帝的問題，上帝早有答案，倒是約伯面對上帝這一連串的問題是沒有答案的！
而約伯要質疑上帝的問題，上帝所回答的，就是他後來起是給以賽亞的：「雅各啊，你為何說，我的道路向耶和華隱藏？以色列啊，你為何言，我的冤屈上帝並不查問？你豈不曾知道嗎？你豈不曾聽見嗎？永在的上帝耶和華，創造地極的主，並不疲乏，也不困倦；他的智慧無法測度。…但那等候耶和華的必重新得力。他們必如鷹展翅上騰；他們奔跑卻不困倦，行走卻不疲乏。」（以賽亞書40:27-28,31）
是的，要等候、要倚靠上帝，這就是面對約伯這樣苦難的人，上帝所指示的道路，也唯有如此才能突破困境，正如以色列人突破亞述帝國侵略的困境！
