從這詩篇中，我們瞭解早在大衛的時代，上帝就應許有一位「永遠的君王」，這位君王是「大衛的子孫」。當時的人不知道「永遠的君王」是誰，今日我們就清楚這位「永遠的君王」是指主耶穌。
同樣，聖經應許主耶穌必再來，新天新地要實現，上帝的國永遠堅立，我們要復活和被提，並與主耶穌同做王直到千千萬萬年。這些都要實現，正如主耶穌之道成肉身，成為大衛的子孫，是上帝所應許之「永遠的君王」。
所以，我們也要如同詩人一般頌讚上帝：『上主啊，諸天要歌頌你奇妙的作為；聖者在天庭要頌讚你的信實。上主啊，天上沒有誰能比得上你；沒有其他的神能跟你並列。』
