1:6 所以我必使撒馬利亞變為田野的亂堆，又作為種葡萄之處；也必將她的石頭倒在谷中，露出根基來。
1:7 她一切雕刻的偶像必被打碎；她所得的財物必被火燒；所有的偶像我必毀滅；因為是從妓女雇價所聚來的，後必歸為妓女的雇價。
Therefore I will make Samaria a heap in the open country,
a place for planting vineyards,
and I will pour down her stones into the valley
and uncover her foundations.
All her carved images shall be beaten to pieces,
all her wages shall be burned with fire,
and all her idols I will lay waste,
for from the fee of a prostitute she gathered them,
and to the fee of a prostitute they shall return.

這是論到撒馬利亞受到上帝憤怒的結果：「變為田野的亂堆，又作為種葡萄之處；也必將她的石頭倒在谷中，露出根基來。」
不僅如此，「她一切雕刻的偶像必被打碎；她所得的財物必被火燒；所有的偶像我必毀滅；因為是從妓女雇價所聚來的，後必歸為妓女的雇價。」
這也告訴我們，從偶像的的好處是不會存到永遠的！以色列王靠外邦偶像所額的利益就是「妓女的雇價」，最後又被外邦人所滅、所奪去，所以「從妓女雇價所聚來的，後必歸為妓女的雇價」！
基督徒貪愛世上的榮華富貴，也就是「從妓女雇價所聚來的」，有一天也必須還給世界「後必歸為妓女的雇價」！一切都是虛空，也就是無意義的！唯有從上帝得的榮耀，才能存到永遠！上帝要透過基督賜給我們後嗣的身分，這才是真正的永遠不變的！
