16:15 只是你仗著自己的美貌，又因你的名聲就行邪淫。你縱情淫亂，使過路的任意而行。
16:16 你用衣服為自己在高處結彩，在其上行邪淫。這樣的事將來必沒有，也必不再行了。
16:17 你又將我所給你那華美的金銀、寶器為自己製造人像，與他行邪淫；
16:18 又用你的繡花衣服給他披上，並將我的膏油和香料擺在他跟前；
16:19 又將我賜給你的食物，就是我賜給你吃的細麵、油，和蜂蜜，都擺在他跟前為馨香的供物。這是主耶和華說的。
16:20 並且你將給我所生的兒女焚獻給他。
16:21 你行淫亂豈是小事，竟將我的兒女殺了，使他們經火歸與他嗎？
16:22 你行這一切可憎和淫亂的事，並未追念你幼年赤身露體滾在血中的日子。
“But you trusted in your beauty and played
the whore because of your renown and lavished your whorings on any passerby;
your beauty became his. You took some of
your garments and made for yourself colorful shrines, and on them played the
whore. The like has never been, nor ever shall be. You also took your beautiful jewels of my
gold and of my silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself images of
men, and with them played the whore. And
you took your embroidered garments to cover them, and set my oil and my incense
before them. Also my bread that I gave
you—I fed you with fine flour and oil and honey—you set before them for a
pleasing aroma; and so it was, declares the Lord God. And you took your sons and your daughters,
whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were
your whorings so small a matter that you
slaughtered my children and delivered them up as an offering by fire to them? And in all your abominations and your
whorings you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and
bare, wallowing in your blood.

先知在這裡說到：以色列人罪惡的開始是以色列人看錯了，以為自己的福分是來自自己的「可愛（美麗）」，而沒有正確的看清楚那是上帝（她的丈夫）的恩賜。
這也是許多基督徒要小心的地方，有許多人自以為蒙福是因為自己敬虔，行上帝喜悅的事，所以上帝就賜福！殊不知我們蒙福是來自耶穌基督在十字架上如同祭物獻上，為我們的罪付上代價，我們才能夠成為上帝的兒女，成為上帝賜福的對象。我們若不感謝主耶穌所做的，常常會自以為自己是十分可愛，其實是不是的！
上帝責備耶路撒冷忘記她以前的狀況。我們也常常因為建忘落到不好的狀況中。有一首歌叫「數主的恩典」，就是提醒我們不要忘記上帝給我們的恩典，讓我們可以持續走在正確的信心之中。因為我們可以享受上帝兒女的名分，是耶穌基督為我們付上生命的代價！豈可不感恩與讚美呢？豈可在認為是自己不錯呢？一切都是主的恩典啊！
