提摩太後書1:3-7

1:3 我感謝上帝，就是我接續祖先用清潔的良心所事奉的上帝。祈禱的時候，不住的想念你，
1:4 記念你的眼淚，晝夜切切地想要見你，好叫我滿心快樂。
1:5 想到你心裡無偽之信，這信是先在你外祖母羅以和你母親友妮基心裡的，我深信也在你的心裡。
1:6 為此我提醒你，使你將上帝藉我按手所給你的恩賜再如火挑旺起來。
1:7 因為上帝賜給我們，不是膽怯的心，乃是剛強、仁愛、謹守的心。

 ³ I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. ⁴ Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. ⁵ I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

⁶ For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. ⁷ For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

    保羅寫信的時候，心裡想念提摩太，盼望能夠早早與提摩太相見，並且為此流淚和禱告！要是我是提摩太的話，看到保羅這樣寫的時候，心裡必定大大感動，也同樣會盼望快快能再見面！

    保羅也提醒提摩太，上帝已經將信心放在他的心中，而且這樣的信心也是來自提摩太的家庭，就像他的祖母羅以和他的母親友妮基！有敬虔的長輩，才會有敬虔的後代！

    也因此保羅勉勵提摩太：「為此我提醒你，使你將上帝藉我按手所給你的恩賜再如火挑旺起來。因為上帝賜給我們，不是膽怯的心，乃是剛強、仁愛、謹守的心。」
