俄巴底亞書5-10

1:5 盜賊若來在你那裡，或強盜夜間而來─你何竟被剪除─豈不偷竊直到夠了呢？摘葡萄的若來到你那裡，豈不剩下些葡萄呢？
1:6 以掃的隱密處何竟被搜尋？他隱藏的寶物何竟被查出？
1:7 與你結盟的都送你上路，直到交界；與你和好的欺騙你，且勝過你；與你一同吃飯的設下網羅陷害你；在你心裡毫無聰明。
1:8 耶和華說：到那日，我豈不從以東除滅智慧人？從以掃山除滅聰明人？
1:9 提幔哪，你的勇士必驚惶，甚至以掃山的人都被殺戮剪除。
1:10 因你向兄弟雅各行強暴，羞愧必遮蓋你，你也必永遠斷絕。

 “If thieves came to you,
    if robbers in the night—
oh, what a disaster awaits you!—
    would they not steal only as much as they wanted?
If grape pickers came to you,
    would they not leave a few grapes? 
 But how Esau will be ransacked,
    his hidden treasures pillaged!
 All your allies will force you to the border;
    your friends will deceive and overpower you;
those who eat your bread will set a trap for you,^[b]
    but you will not detect it.

“In that day,” declares the Lord,
    “will I not destroy the wise men of Edom,
    those of understanding in the mountains of Esau? 

 Your warriors, Teman, will be terrified,
    and everyone in Esau’s mountains
    will be cut down in the slaughter.
 Because of the violence against your brother Jacob,
    you will be covered with shame;
    you will be destroyed forever.

    上帝透過先知警告以東人：「提幔哪，你的勇士必驚惶，甚至以掃山的人都被殺戮剪除。因你向兄弟雅各行強暴，羞愧必遮蓋你，你也必永遠斷絕。」

    這裡的「剪除」和「斷絕」在希伯來文是同一個字，其意思就是與生命的源頭失去關係，這就是死亡得意義。而他們之所以遭受這樣的情況，是因為他自己身出賣自己的兄弟。

    也因此他們也將被出賣，如經文所說：「與你結盟的都送你上路，直到交界；與你和好的欺騙你，且勝過你；與你一同吃飯的設下網羅陷害你；在你心裡毫無聰明。」

    聖經記載這事，也是要告誡屬上帝的人要對上帝與人都有忠信，才能與生命支援連結，而主耶穌的作為正是如此，我們也當如此。

俄巴底亞書1-4

1:1 俄巴底亞得了耶和華的默示。論以東說：我從耶和華那裡聽見信息，並有使者被差往列國去，說：起來吧，一同起來與以東爭戰！

1:2 我使你─以東在列國中為最小的，被人大大藐視。

1:3 住在山穴中、居所在高處的啊，你因狂傲自欺，心裡說：誰能將我拉下地去呢？

1:4 你雖如大鷹高飛，在星宿之間搭窩，我必從那裡拉下你來。這是耶和華說的。

The vision of Obadiah.

Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom:

 We have heard a report from the Lord,

and a messenger has been sent among the nations:

"Rise up! Let us rise against her for battle!"

 Behold, I will make you small among the nations;

you shall be utterly despised.

The pride of your heart has deceived you,

you who live in the clefts of the rock,

in your lofty dwelling,

 who say in your heart,

"Who will bring me down to the ground?"

Though you soar aloft like the eagle,

though your nest is set among the stars,

from there I will bring you down,

declares the Lord.

    俄巴底亞領受上帝的異象，咒詛以東！因為他們趁火打劫，殘害自己的兄弟之邦！

    以東是以掃後裔所建立之國，理當要善待以色列人，事實並非如此，所以先知起來攻擊他！

    這也告訴我們上帝注意人與人之間的關係，國與國的關係上帝也注意，祂期盼人間有和平和正義！

約拿書4:5-11

4:5 於是約拿出城，坐在城的東邊，在那裡為自己搭了一座棚，坐在棚的蔭下，要看看那城究竟如何。

4:6 耶和華上帝安排一棵蓖麻，使其發生高過約拿，影兒遮蓋他的頭，救他脫離苦楚；約拿因這棵蓖麻大大喜樂。

4:7 次日黎明，上帝卻安排一條蟲子咬這蓖麻，以致枯槁。

4:8 日頭出來的時候，上帝安排炎熱的東風，日頭曝曬約拿的頭，使他發昏，他就為自己求死，說：「我死了比活著還好！」

4:9 上帝對約拿說：「你因這棵蓖麻發怒合乎理嗎？」他說：「我發怒以至於死，都合乎理！」

4:10 耶和華說：「這蓖麻不是你栽種的，也不是你培養的；一夜發生，一夜乾死，你尚且愛惜；

4:11 何況這尼尼微大城，其中不能分辨左手右手的有十二萬多人，並有許多牲畜，我豈能不愛惜呢？」

Jonah went out of the city and sat to the east of the city and made a booth for himself there. He sat under it in the shade, till he should see what would become of the city.  Now the Lord God appointed a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to save him from his discomfort. So Jonah was exceedingly glad because of the plant.  But when dawn came up the next day, God appointed a worm that attacked the plant, so that it withered.  When the sun rose, God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on the head of Jonah so that he was faint. And he asked that he might die and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”  But God said to Jonah, “Do you do well to be angry for the plant?” And he said, “Yes, I do well to be angry, angry enough to die.”  And the Lord said, “You pity the plant, for which you did not labor, nor did you make it grow, which came into being in a night and perished in a night.  And should not I pity Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much cattle?”

    上帝用蓖麻來教導約拿，讓約拿知道祂有憐憫的心腸！祂盼望人人悔改，免受永遠的刑罰！這也是上帝為何要救人離罪的原因！

4:1 這事約拿大大不悅，且甚發怒，

4:2 就禱告耶和華說：「耶和華啊，我在本國的時候豈不是這樣說嗎？我知道你是有恩典、有憐憫的上帝，不輕易發怒，有豐盛的慈愛，並且後悔不降所說的災，所以我急速逃往他施去。

4:3 耶和華啊，現在求你取我的命吧！因為我死了比活著還好。」

4:4 耶和華說：「你這樣發怒合乎理嗎？」

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.  And he prayed to the Lord and said, “O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.  Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”  And the Lord said, “Do you do well to be angry?”

    在這裡看見，約拿為耶和華不降災給尼尼微城的百姓，心中非常的不悅，還向上帝發怒！

    可是上帝也回答得很可愛：「你這樣發怒合乎理嗎？」

    的確，有許多時候我們自以為有理，發一些自己都覺得好笑的怒氣，以至於自己受虧損！

    所以，我們要常常記得上帝這樣的提醒：「你這樣發怒合乎理嗎？」
