25:14 亞瑪謝殺了以東人回來，就把西珥的神像帶回，立為自己的神，在它面前叩拜燒香。
25:15 因此，耶和華的怒氣向亞瑪謝發作，就差一個先知去見他，說：「這些神不能救它的民脫離你的手，你為何尋求它呢？」
25:16 先知與王說話的時候，王對他說：「誰立你作王的謀士呢？你住口吧！為何找打呢？」先知就止住了，又說：「你行這事，不聽從我的勸戒，我知道上帝定意要滅你。」
14 After Amaziah came from striking down
the Edomites, he brought the gods of the men of Seir and set them up as his
gods and worshiped them, making offerings to them. 15 Therefore the Lord was
angry with Amaziah and sent to him a prophet, who said to him, "Why have
you sought the gods of a people who did not deliver their own people from your
hand?" 16 But as he was speaking, the king said to him, "Have we made
you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?" So the
prophet stopped, but said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you,
because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel."

我們在此看見一個荒唐的王，就是猶大的亞瑪謝，他是打勝仗的王，就然俘虜的神帶回家敬拜，立為自己的神，上帝就發怒而差派一個先知去見他，說：「這些神不能救它的民脫離你的手，你為何尋求它呢？」
然而他竟然不聽先知的話，竟然說：「誰立你作王的謀士呢？你住口吧！為何找打呢？」
可見他不敬畏上帝，導致上帝透過先知發出憤怒的預言：「你行這事，不聽從我的勸戒，我知道上帝定意要滅你。」
可見不敬畏上帝的人，就不會尊重上帝的僕人，這是很自然的事。這對今日的傳道人有一個很好的提醒，就是我們面對自稱是基督徒的人，要用上帝的藉命來查驗他們，就可以分辨他們是不是上帝的真兒女了，這是很重要的事情，尤其是面對長執同工更是此。要帶領他們先悔改敬畏上帝，彼此才能同心事奉上帝，完成主的交託。
