1:11 耶和華的話又臨到我說：「耶利米，你看見甚麼？」我說：「我看見一根杏樹枝。」
1:12 耶和華對我說：「你看得不錯；因為我留意保守我的話，使得成就。」
1:13 耶和華的話第二次臨到我說：「你看見甚麼？」我說：「我看見一個燒開的鍋，從北而傾。」
1:14 耶和華對我說：「必有災禍從北方發出，臨到這地的一切居民。」
1:15 耶和華說：「看哪，我要召北方列國的眾族；他們要來，各安座位在耶路撒冷的城門口，周圍攻擊城牆，又要攻擊猶大的一切城邑。
1:16 至於這民的一切惡，就是離棄我、向別神燒香、跪拜自己手所造的，我要發出我的判語，攻擊他們。
And the word of the Lord came to me,
saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see an almond branch.” Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen
well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”
The
word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I
said, “I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.” Then the Lord said to me, “Out of the north
disaster shall be let loose upon all the inhabitants of the land. For behold, I am calling all the tribes of
the kingdoms of the north, declares the Lord, and they shall come, and every
one shall set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, against all
its walls all around and against all the cities of Judah. And I will declare my judgments against them,
for all their evil in forsaking me. They have made offerings to other gods and
worshiped the works of their own hands.

耶利米先知發表預言的原因，在此說明得很清楚，就是：「至於這民的一切惡，就是離棄我、向別神燒香、跪拜自己手所造的，我要發出我的判語，攻擊他們。」
這不僅是當時猶大的問題，也是今日教會的問題。為什麼這樣說呢？因為今日教會不再是以耶穌基督為主了，有的以「人數」、「獻金」為目標，有的以「事工」、「聲望」為目的！人到教會不是敬拜上帝，而是爭權奪利！
這些雖然不是拜有形的偶像，卻讓這一些取代了耶穌基督！因此，教會沒有愛、和睦、平安！反倒是充滿分裂、爭競、傷害、…等，甚至造成仇恨，真的是令主耶穌難過的地方！
因此，我們要悔改、認罪，再一次讓主耶穌基督真正成為教會的主，讓教會充滿和平和公義！讓主的榮光得以彰顯！不然教會就不是教會了!
