5:1 耶穌站在革尼撒勒湖邊，眾人擁擠他，要聽上帝的道。
5:2 他見有兩隻船灣在湖邊；打魚的人卻離開船洗網去了。
5:3 有一隻船是西門的，耶穌就上去，請他把船撐開，稍微離岸，就坐下，從船上教訓眾人。
5:4 講完了，對西門說：「把船開到水深之處，下網打魚。」
5:5 西門說：「夫子，我們整夜勞力，並沒有打著甚麼。但依從你的話，我就下網。」
5:6 他們下了網，就圈住許多魚，網險些裂開，
5:7 便招呼那隻船上的同伴來幫助。他們就來，把魚裝滿了兩隻船，甚至船要沉下去。
5:8 西門•彼得看見，就俯伏在耶穌膝前，說：「主啊，離開我，我是個罪人！」
5:9 他和一切同在的人都驚訝這一網所打的魚。
5:10 他的夥伴西庇太的兒子雅各、約翰，也是這樣。耶穌對西門說：「不要怕！從今以後，你要得人了。」
5:11 他們把兩隻船攏了岸，就撇下所有的，跟從了耶穌。
One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a] the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. 2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” 9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” 11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

彼得雖然是一個人看為卑賤的漁夫，然而主耶穌竟然沒有嫌棄他，還用特殊的方法來呼召他。比得面對主耶穌的時候，讓他覺得自己是是不配的，他向主耶穌說：「主啊，離開我，我是個罪人！」
然而主耶穌卻鼓勵他：「不要怕！從今以後，你要得人了。」
因為當人認識到自己的不能和有限時，才會感受上帝的大能和無限！如此才會倚靠上帝，才會看重上帝在基督裡的救恩！也因為這樣，人才能成為上帝可用的器皿！
摩西還年輕的時候，憑自己的血氣想拯救自己的同胞，後果就是逃亡到米甸！而經過四十年的磨練後，在荊棘的火焰中，被上帝呼召，才感受到自己的不能，以至於才會倚靠上帝的能！
摩西、彼得如此，我們更是如此！「人的盡頭，才是上帝的起頭」！讓我們放下自我，讓上帝真正成為我們的主，上帝的能才能透過我們流露出去！
