10:14 我所親愛的弟兄啊，你們要逃避拜偶像的事。
10:15 我好像對明白人說的，你們要審察我的話。
10:16 我們所祝福的杯，豈不是同領基督的血嗎？我們所擘開的餅，豈不是同領基督的身體嗎？
10:17 我們雖多，仍是一個餅，一個身體，因為我們都是分受這一個餅。
10:18 你們看屬肉體的以色列人，那吃祭物的豈不是在祭壇上有分嗎？
10:19 我是怎麼說呢？豈是說祭偶像之物算得甚麼呢？或說偶像算得甚麼呢？
10:20 我乃是說，外邦人所獻的祭是祭鬼，不是祭上帝。我不願意你們與鬼相交。
10:21 你們不能喝主的杯又喝鬼的杯，不能吃主的筵席又吃鬼的筵席。
10:22 我們可惹主的憤恨嗎？我們比他還有能力嗎？
14 Therefore,
my dear friends, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak to sensible people;
judge for yourselves what I say. 16 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give
thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we
break a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are
one body, for we all share the one loaf.
18 Consider the people of Israel:
Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? 19 Do I mean
then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?
20 No, but the
sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you
to be participants with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup
of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of
demons. 22 Are
we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

保羅在此說明不可以吃祭物的原因，來斥責那些自以為有知識的信徒。他們認為：吃偶像的祭物是沒有關係的，按知識來說偶向算不得什麼是虛無之物，所以吃偶像之物無礙。
但是保羅用聖餐來說明，既然領受聖餐是以接受主的身體和寶血的方式與基督連結。吃祭偶像之物，就是祭拜鬼的食物，吃了這些等於是與鬼連結了。基督徒不可以與主連結，又與鬼連結！這樣的情形和淫亂有什麼不同呢？肉體不可淫亂，信仰更是不可以！
也因為這樣，基督徒不要吃祭拜過偶像的食物，尤其是我們知道之後，千萬不要吃，因為這是不討上帝喜悅的事。當然，不知道時，我們感謝領受，就蒙上帝潔淨了，就不要在意，歡喜領受！
