傳道書3:16-22

3:16 我又見日光之下，在審判之處有奸惡，在公義之處也有奸惡。
3:17 我心裡說，上帝必審判義人和惡人；因為在那裡，各樣事務，一切工作，都有定時。
3:18 我心裡說，這乃為世人的緣故，是上帝要試驗他們，使他們覺得自己不過像獸一樣。
3:19 因為世人遭遇的，獸也遭遇，所遭遇的都是一樣：這個怎樣死，那個也怎樣死，氣息都是一樣。人不能強於獸，都是虛空。
3:20 都歸一處，都是出於塵土，也都歸於塵土。
3:21 誰知道人的靈是往上升，獸的魂是下入地呢？
3:22 故此，我見人莫強如在他經營的事上喜樂，因為這是他的分。他身後的事誰能使他回來得見呢？

 ¹⁶ And I saw something else under the sun:

In the place of judgment—wickedness was there,
    in the place of justice—wickedness was there.

¹⁷ I said to myself,

“God will bring into judgment
    both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
    a time to judge every deed.”

¹⁸ I also said to myself, “As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. ¹⁹ Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath^[c]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. ²⁰ All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. ²¹ Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?”

²² So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?

    傳道者在這裡說得很感慨：「世人遭遇的，獸也遭遇，所遭遇的都是一樣：這個怎樣死，那個也怎樣死，氣息都是一樣。人不能強於獸，都是虛空。都歸一處，都是出於塵土，也都歸於塵土。誰知道人的靈是往上升，獸的魂是下入地呢？」

    年輕的時候，在龍潭上班的路上，看見一隻狗死在路旁，沒有人處理，一天一天腐爛、長蟲，最後變得只剩下狗毛，幾天後狗毛都飛走了！不禁想到人撲倒在地若沒有人處理是不是也如此呢？

    上帝給人的身體和其他動物一樣，都是肉做的！但是，上帝卻讓人的心裡有永遠的觀念，希望自己不會死亡！其實這是不可能的，人要認清一個事實，有一天會死掉！然而死亡之後是甚麼呢？沒有一個人也不知！

    所以，傳道者在此說：「我見人莫強如在他經營的事上喜樂，因為這是他的分」。這也就是說，活著的時候，要好好享受自己努力已得的成果，不要有非分之想，想要多而又多，造成自己的徒勞無功，連有的都會失去！因為，死了之後怎樣都不知道呢？

    當然，在今日我們在基督裡得著聖靈的啟示，明白耶穌基督已經勝過死亡，死亡之後有復活！所以，我們更有勇氣承認我們是會死的人，因為死後我們要復活來與主相見，享受永恆的榮耀！

3:9 這樣看來，做事的人在他的勞碌上有甚麼益處呢？
3:10 我見上帝叫世人勞苦，使他們在其中受經練。
3:11 上帝造萬物，各按其時成為美好，又將永生（原文是永遠）安置在世人心裡。然而上帝從始至終的作為，人不能參透。
3:12 我知道世人，莫強如終身喜樂行善；
3:13 並且人人吃喝，在他一切勞碌中享福，這也是上帝的恩賜。
3:14 我知道上帝一切所做的都必永存；無所增添，無所減少。上帝這樣行，是要人在他面前存敬畏的心。
3:15 現今的事早先就有了，將來的事早已也有了，並且上帝使已過的事重新再來（或譯：並且上帝再尋回已過的事）。

 ⁹ What do workers gain from their toil? ¹⁰ I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. ¹¹ He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet^[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. ¹² I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. ¹³ That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. ¹⁴ I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.

¹⁵ Whatever is has already been,
    and what will be has been before;
    and God will call the past to account.^[b]

    傳道者用「凡事都有定期，天下萬務都有定時」，來使人思考：「做事的人在他的勞碌上有甚麼益處呢？」

    的確，一切都在上帝的安排之中，我們想企圖用我們的努力，就是勞碌，來追求更多的利益和好處，是沒有意義的，除非人能配合到時機，因為「上帝造萬物，各按其時成為美好」。

    更奇妙的，上帝「將永生安置在世人心裡」，就是要人用永恆的眼光來看一切，能夠掌握到每一個時機，使我們凡事都可以有好的成果，享受到上帝所賜的福氣。使我們可以吃喝勞碌所得的，在我們一切勞碌中享福。

    然而我們如何享受到這樣的福份呢？就是知道「上帝一切所做的都必永存；無所增添，無所減少」。進而使我們認識到，我們生命的價值在乎上帝在我們身上所作的一切，使我們對上帝有敬畏的心！

    我們若沒有敬畏上帝的心，只靠自己的勞碌，將會發現一切都是無意義！

傳道書2:17-26

2:17 我所以恨惡生命；因為在日光之下所行的事我都以為煩惱，都是虛空，都是捕風。
2:18 我恨惡一切的勞碌，就是我在日光之下的勞碌，因為我得來的必留給我以後的人。
2:19 那人是智慧是愚昧，誰能知道？他竟要管理我勞碌所得的，就是我在日光之下用智慧所得的。這也是虛空。
2:20 故此，我轉想我在日光之下所勞碌的一切工作，心便絕望。
2:21 因為有人用智慧、知識、靈巧所勞碌得來的，卻要留給未曾勞碌的人為分。這也是虛空，也是大患。
2:22 人在日光之下勞碌累心，在他一切的勞碌上得著甚麼呢？
2:23 因為他日日憂慮，他的勞苦成為愁煩，連夜間心也不安。這也是虛空。
2:24 人莫強如吃喝，且在勞碌中享福，我看這也是出於上帝的手。
2:25 論到吃用、享福，誰能勝過我呢？
2:26 上帝喜悅誰，就給誰智慧、知識，和喜樂；惟有罪人，上帝使他勞苦，叫他將所收聚的、所堆積的歸給上帝所喜悅的人。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

 ¹⁷ So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. ¹⁸ I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me. ¹⁹ And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless. ²⁰ So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun. ²¹ For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune. ²² What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun? ²³ All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.
²⁴ A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, ²⁵ for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? ²⁶ To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

    傳道者說到了一個現實社會的問題，就是勞碌人的努力所得並不完全屬於自己的，常常會被別人奪去，不管是自己的後代或是聘雇他的人，甚至於是強盜、小偷或流氓，更嚴重的事被有權有勢的人霸佔。

    所以他感嘆的說：「我恨惡一切的勞碌，就是我在日光之下的勞碌，因為我得來的必留給我以後的人。那人是智慧是愚昧，誰能知道？他竟要管理我勞碌所得的，就是我在日光之下用智慧所得的。」

    也因此傳道者強調：「人莫強如吃喝，且在勞碌中享福，我看這也是出於上帝的手。」也就是說，能夠吃喝自己勞碌所得的，就是上帝給人的福氣！也因此，人當求這樣的福份！

    所以，傳道者說：「上帝喜悅誰，就給誰智慧、知識，和喜樂；惟有罪人，上帝使他勞苦，叫他將所收聚的、所堆積的歸給上帝所喜悅的人。」

    我們要得著「智慧、知識，和喜樂」，就需要成為上帝所喜悅的人。人生才可以脫離虛空，享受自己勞碌所得的！

   

傳道書2:12-16

2:12 我轉念觀看智慧、狂妄，和愚昧。在王以後而來的人還能做甚麼呢？也不過行早先所行的就是了。
2:13 我便看出智慧勝過愚昧，如同光明勝過黑暗。
2:14 智慧人的眼目光明（光明：原文是在他頭上），愚昧人在黑暗裡行。我卻看明有一件事，這兩等人都必遇見。
2:15 我就心裡說：「愚昧人所遇見的，我也必遇見，我為何更有智慧呢？」我心裡說，這也是虛空。
2:16 智慧人和愚昧人一樣，永遠無人記念，因為日後都被忘記；可嘆智慧人死亡，與愚昧人無異。

 ¹² Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom,
    and also madness and folly.
What more can the king’s successor do
    than what has already been done?
¹³ I saw that wisdom is better than folly,
    just as light is better than darkness.
¹⁴ The wise have eyes in their heads,
    while the fool walks in the darkness;
but I came to realize
    that the same fate overtakes them both.

¹⁵ Then I said to myself,

“The fate of the fool will overtake me also.
    What then do I gain by being wise?”
I said to myself,
    “This too is meaningless.”
¹⁶ For the wise, like the fool, will not be long remembered;
    the days have already come when both have been forgotten.
Like the fool, the wise too must die!

    傳道者在此雖然說到智慧與愚昧沒有甚麼不同，境遇都相同，一樣會面對生死的問題。生的時候一樣，死的時候也相同。死亡經過一段時間之後，不管是智慧與愚昧的人都不被人記念！這如一般人所說的，死亡就如塵土隨風而去，不留一點痕跡！

    作者不斷的強調與說明「虛空」是每個人會面對的，不管是智慧或愚昧。然而作者在此明說：「智慧勝過愚昧，如同光明勝過黑暗。」

    雖然不是很明顯在延伸下去敘述，但是在此給了一個伏筆，要人去尋求智慧，來改變「虛空」的狀態！也求主幫助我們，從上帝的啟示和生命的經歷，得著真正的智慧，來突破「虛空」的狀態。
