105:3 要以他的聖名誇耀！尋求耶和華的人，心中應當歡喜！

詩人敘述上帝如何拯救以色列人出埃及，正如創世記到出埃及記的記載。上帝為了紀念以色列人的祖先亞伯拉罕，本是好意讓雅各家族在遇到飢荒的時候，可以存活。透過約瑟被賣到埃及為奴，到他高升為宰相，可以為以色列人找到一條出路。
但是，埃及雖然好，卻不是上帝的應許之地。所以，上帝故意讓埃及王來苦待以色列人，並藉由摩西的帶領，讓以色列人清楚必須離開埃及為奴之地，進入迦南的應許之地。上帝也藉由十個災難來使以色列人清楚上帝是真正的上帝，是使他們脫離埃及奴役的主宰，進而有敬畏上帝的心。
我們雖然沒有像以色列人一樣經歷這些事件，但是我們相信耶穌基督釘十字架受死與復活的事件是勝過以色列人出埃及的事件！因為耶穌基督是上帝的獨生子，也是上帝，竟願意為我們的罪而捨命和流血，沒有其他的愛可以勝過上帝的愛，我們更是要敬畏上帝，堅心的倚靠祂，來盼望耶穌基督的再來，上帝的國完全實現！
